Operational Deflection Shape Analysis (ODS)

Analysis of Operational Deflection Shapes (ODS) examines the changes in the shape of the structure during work due to the natural forces that enter the structure during work. Using this analysis, which can be performed in the time and frequency domains, it is possible to obtain the deformations of different points of the structure relative to each other and the amount of displacement of different points of the structure. This analysis is used for fault diagnosis so that if there is slack in the structure or the foundation is weak or soft, the points related to the fault will have a lot of movement. Identifying the points of the structure that need mechanical reinforcement and choosing the appropriate earthquake absorber for the structures are among other applications of this analysis.

Operational Deflection Shape Analysis (ODS)

To perform ODS analysis, you can use a network accelerometer or a miniature accelerometer and install a number of them in different parts of the working structure. Obviously, one of these sensors is installed as a reference. If the structure is large, the location of the accelerometers can be changed on the structure so that the reference sensor remains fixed. Then, the vibration signals were recorded synchronously by the vibration analyzer (DPS_DAQ) and the structural deformations were obtained using ARTeMIS or MEscope software.
